Anybody want to tell their story?
    Hi,
Apologies for just barging into your community, I hope it doesn't cause offense.
I'm a journalist looking for a case study of a woman in a polyamorous relationship, based in the UK. I'm writing a large piece for Psychologies magazine about women with non-mainstream love lives. The idea is to look, with an open mind, at all the different ways our loves lives take shape nowadays and the huge breadth of choice women now have.
I was hoping to find somebody willing to be interviewed and photographed for the magazine. The interview would need to be done before Christmas, but could be done over the phone and the photo shoot will take place in January of next year - it's a lovely day with a make-up artist, clothes and hair stylist and a nice lunch thrown in.
I can guarantee the interviewee will be treated with respect and the magazine is known for its sensitive approach. I think this would be a great opportunity to explain a little more about how polyamorous relationships work and why they are right for some people.
If you think you can help or have questions about the piece please email me at lauradeeleyor you can call me on 07917 500320.
    Many thanks,
    Laura

    Advice wanted
Assuming all goes to plan, within about a month I should be living full time in a poly quad.

We're trying to sort out all the little technicalities as much as possible before we do this so I was wondering if any of you good people had any sensible practical advice or things that you really wish you'd known before living in an extended household that you don't mind sharing.

I'm particularly thinking about things like sorting out working sleeping arrangements/rotas, managing finances, all the practical stuff really.

If it makes any difference we are currently two married couples one of which still has a child living at home and I have other partners too although I am currently the only one that does.

    Cambridge Picnic - tomorrow
Apologies for *another* post - next time I'll sort out wet weather plans properly at an earlier stage.

All other details are as per my previous email, except that the Bun Shop on Cherry Hinton Road isn't a suitable wet weather venue, so we're going for The Master Mariner (http://www.mastermarinercambridge.co.uk/), Perne Road, Cambridge, CB1 3RX. Telephone: 01223 246 482

Showers, some heavy are forecast for tomorrow. I hope we'll be able to have a picnic as planned in Cherry Hinton Hall Park. If not we've now got a sensible alternative. If you're arriving around 2pm ish, please pick the venue you think is best and we'll see if we all end up in the same place. If you're arriving significantly after 2pm text me and I'll let you know where we are.

I do suggest bringing something to sit on, as even if it's dry, the ground is going to be soggy from all the rain over the past few days.

Please come and join if you would be interested in helping with the planning (even if just by making suggestions) or attending the event.

    Thanks

    UK Poly Retreat idea
Ok, so since Eastercon I've been thinking about trying to organise a sort of UK Poly Retreat, probably sometime late this year (am thinking November ish cos that gives time for planning and collecting money and all that jazz).

I'm not thinking anything too elaborate - just booking a youth hostel for a weekend, trying to persuade a few people to volunteer workshops of some sort and allowing for plenty of chatting and socialing. There are some nice ones around the Norfolk coast that will hold 30-40 people quite easily, there are others elsewhere that will accomodate 60 - 90 but I didn't want to start out too ambitious :o)

The research I've done so far suggests that it would work out in the region of £40 per person for a weekend, maybe even a bit less. That would include accomodation and hopefully a reasonable but basic meal once a day.

So, is anyone interested? If so, how many people do you think you'd be bringing and what would you like to see? If not, what would make it more appealing? Anyone wanna volunteer to run a workshop or help with the organising?

    Poly Friendly in Devon?
Living in the far off land of Devon, and not being from around here (Moved over when I was 21, I'm American by birth) I'd like to meet poly people, or go to a poly friendly event to just make friends somewhere in my area.

Have NO idea where to look, have looked on the more obvious sites but haven't found anything and was wondering what information people who are from England may have.

Just looking for friends ladies, gents, and others.

Any suggestions of where to look?

    Visiting Bristol (and London)
Wee. So, I'm a Canadian girl living in Bristol for six weeks and then staying in London for two weeks.

Any interesting poly events going on here while I'm in the area, or events or places I should make a point of visiting?

I got a few tips from the awesome folks at londonpolybis, but thought I'd intro myself here as well.

    Descriptors of me:
-geeky, bi, poly, pagan, kinky, fenling, writer, sometimes-larper

    Plans already include:
-one day larp this weekend near Bristol
-BiFest May 3 (does one have to register for this in advance or anything like that?)
-WitchFest May 10 (is this a worthwhile event?)
    -probably, a trip to Glastonbury
    -probably, a trip to Oxford
-probably, a trip to Cardiff (must dance atop the Torchwood site, after all)
